Who We Are
Raintree Therapy Services is a small private practice providing neurodiversity-affirming speech-language therapy services for children in their homes, daycares, and schools in West Pasco and North Pinellas Counties, and virtual (teletherapy) services throughout the state of Florida.
Skilled Therapy
Jocelyn Richardson, M.A., CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist with more than 25 years of experience supporting children with a wide range of speech and language needs. She is licensed to practice in the state of Florida and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Throughout her career, Jocelyn has worked with children across many stages of development—from early intervention (birth to age three) through high school, as well as some developmentally delayed young adults. Her experience spans a variety of settings, including schools, homes, daycares, private clinics, and teletherapy services.
Jocelyn’s approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that all play is valid and functional, behavior is communication, and children do well when they can. She focuses on meeting children where they are and supporting communication in ways that feel natural, meaningful, and respectful of each child’s unique strengths.
Our Approach
Raintree Therapy Services embraces the neurodiversity paradigm. We do not aim to change or hide a child’s neurology. Instead, our goal is to support children in communicating their needs and wants and in participating fully in their daily lives.
We also work with families and caregivers to better understand each child’s unique communication style and to create environments that support and accommodate those differences.
At Raintree Therapy Services, therapy is centered on respect, autonomy, and meaningful communication. Compliance is never the goal, and we do not use or recommend behaviorist methodologies.
Our Services
Comprehensive Evaluations
An evaluation appointment typically lasts one to two hours, depending on the age and needs of the child. Areas assessed may include
- articulation (speech sound production)
- language (understanding and use of words)
- pragmatics (social language)
- voice
- fluency (presence or absence of stuttering)

Speech-Language Therapy
Play is the work of childhood. It is also how children learn and retain new skills most effectively.
At Raintree Therapy Services, therapy is play-based and purposeful. We don’t rely on rote memorization or repetitive drill work. Instead, we play with a purpose to support the development of children’s communication skills.
Activities are child-led, with the therapist thoughtfully adjusting the complexity of tasks to provide the right level of challenge while allowing the child to experience success. Movement is incorporated into sessions whenever possible, helping to support focus, engagement, and retention of new skills.
Therapy sessions may address a variety of skill areas, including:
- Cognition: thinking, organizing, and executive functioning
- Speech: how sounds and words are produced
- Language: understanding and using words to communicate
- Social communication: approached from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective
- Self-advocacy
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
Sessions are typically scheduled for 30 minutes to one hour, one to four times per week, depending on the child’s individual needs.
Teletherapy services are also available for families who prefer that option.

We are not contracted with any insurance plans; however, we are happy to provide you with a Superbill to submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement should you choose to pay out-of-pocket.
Raintree Therapy Services is also a direct-bill provider for Step Up For Students (formerly Gardiner) "unique abilities" scholarships (FES-UA).
If you want us to bill Medicaid for services, we will need to have prescriptions on file for evaluation and treatment.
Absolutely! Parent participation is encouraged at whatever level works best for you and your child.
